June 14th is Flag Day in the United States. The 13 star, 13 striped flag was adopted as the Official US flag June 14, 1777 by the Second Continental Congress. Many people think that the flag started out with the stars in a circle, but it actually started out the way they are now - lined up.
The first official flag in the world was from Sweden and was adopted in 1569. It was mostly a battle flag.
