June 16

Interesting things that happened on June 16th. :) I love looking into things and learning about stuff. I didn't know all these things. Hopefully I taught you something new here, too.

Today is National Nursing Assistants Day, Recess at Work Day, Bloomsday, Fudge Day, Ladies' Day (Baseball)

Today's birthdays:
Tupak Shakur (rapper)
Phil Mickelson (golfer)
Stan Laurel (of the famed Laurel and Hardy)

1978: On June 16th, the movie Grease opened up.

1884: The first American roller coaster in America opens at Coney Island.

TODAY IS NATIONAL FUDGE DAY! Back in the 17th century when fudge was first created, it was made without chocolate. Can you imagine fudge without chocolate? Wonder what it tasted like.

Bloomsday - This day is to celebrate the Irish writer James Joyce and his novel, Ulysses. The name of the day is after a character in the novel: Leopold Bloom.

NATIONAL LADIES' DAY! On this day in 1883, the New York Giants let women into the ball park for free and called it Ladies' Day.
